MEET INTERN

Jessica De rose

Growing up comes with big emotions, shifting relationships, and experiences that can feel overwhelming at times. Jessica is passionate about helping children and youth navigate these challenges and supporting them in understanding themselves, recognizing their strengths, and building skills they can carry into everyday life.

Jessica is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with nearly 15 years of experience in the social service field, including counselling children and youth within the education system. She is currently completing her Master of Counselling Psychology through City University and is welcoming new clients at Lighthouse Therapy as part of her clinical internship, under the direct supervision of Jennifer Friend.

Jessica has experience supporting children and youth who may be navigating anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, grief and loss, low self-esteem, school-related challenges, and difficult life experiences. She understands that children and teens don't always have the words to explain what they're going through, and believes that behaviours and emotional responses often communicate important underlying needs.

Jessica brings a warm, approachable, and collaborative style to her work. Her approach is person-centred, strengths-based, inclusive, and trauma-informed, with a strong understanding of neurodiversity and the many ways children and youth experience and respond to the world around them. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, she tailors her work to each young person's unique needs.

Jessica is grateful to live and work on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc people, and approaches her work with respect, humility, and a continued commitment to learning.

Outside the office, you'll find Jessica spending time with her husband and kids, staying active, and exploring the outdoors. Her ideal day always has a hint of adventure, whether she’s paddleboarding across a quiet lake or getting outside for her favourite seasonal sports. When Jessica slows down, you'll likely find her with earbuds in catching up on a podcast, or curled up with a good book.

Jessica offers sessions on Mondays, with some additional availability throughout the week. Her session rate is $65 per 50 minutes.
