MEET INTERN
Kristin Rhynolds
—
Kristin (she/her) is currently completing her Master of Counselling through City University and is joining Lighthouse Therapy for her internship under the direct supervision of Vicki Farnell. She brings an empathetic and relational approach to her work, striving to create inclusive, safe, and affirming spaces where individuals feel respected. Kristin believes that healing happens through authentic connection and collaboration, and she works alongside clients to foster self-awareness, resilience, and growth. Her approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, grounded in a non-pathologizing perspective that honours each individual's unique experiences.
Significant areas of interest for Kristin include perinatal mental health, fertility, and family planning. She is passionate about supporting individuals and families through the complexities of conception, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, reproductive loss, and the transition to parenthood. As a certified postpartum doula and infant feeding instructor, Kristin brings a holistic understanding of the emotional, relational, and practical challenges that can arise during this season of life. She continues to complete continued education in this area to expand her knowledge base to support her clients.
Outside of her internship, Kristin works as a youth substance use counsellor. She has several years of experience in the mental health and substance use field, including supporting children, youth, young adults, and families navigating a wide range of challenges. Her professional background also includes experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and those with diverse needs. Kristin has specialized training in Motivational Interviewing, San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety, substance use, as well as gender diversity and inclusivity.
Originally from Alberta, Kristin has called beautiful Kamloops home for the past 15 years and feels grateful to live, work, and play on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc land, where she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and energetic dog. She loves being anywhere near water and will never say no to a beach day. If she isn't working or studying, you can probably find her enjoying a good cup of coffee and getting lost in a great book. She brings the same values of kindness, authenticity, and curiosity into her personal life as she does into her work with clients.
Kristin offers sessions on Monday evenings and every other Saturday morning. Her session rate is $65 per 50 minute session for individuals and $80 per 50 minute session for couples.
